EU deal secured Jaguar Land Rover long-term future, says Solihull MEP.

Land Rover's investment in the West Midlands is a direct result of an EU deal, says one of our region's Conservative MEPs. Jaguar Land Rover has announced plans to create one thousand new jobs in Solihull expected to lead to new models rolling off the production line in future years. But Malcolm Harbour says it all could have been very different. The EU has set targets for the car industry to cut carbon dioxide emissions. According to the West Midlands MEP, if the original plans had gone through, Land Rover would not have made this investment. But with the right balance he says he fought for, Mr Harbour thinks the company will become greener whilst keeping production in his region.
