North West MEP outraged by train "discrimination".

Some rail operators are discriminating against people with disabilities, according to MEP Brian Simpson. The TSSA union, which represents transport & travel workers, carried out research into what assistance train companies are prepared to offer if you have a disability. They found that twelve UK companies will only provide journey planning assistance to disabled travellers via 0845 numbers, for which they have to pay. The union has called for them to provide the service for free instead. Labour’s Mr Simpson, who chairs the Transport Committee in the European Parliament, says we have clear regulations stating that passengers with reduced mobility should not be discriminated against.
